Hepatica americana This pretty flower is one of the first to emerge in the spring. It's leaves persist through winter and feed the early blooms in spring. New leaves develop after the blooms. The flower can range from white to pink to purple with 5-9 petals. It seems 6 is most common, this one with 9 is very pretty. The plant is named so because the 3 lobed leaves resemble a liver. |
